Seasonal Programs

Adopt-A-Family
Adopt-A-Family is a program of giving in the Christmas spirit. Through the generous contributions of families, individuals, businesses, and congregations, St. Luke's matches donors with West Nashville families and seniors. The donors then shop for gifts from the wish lists the families and seniors provide. This program served 393 families and 73 seniors last season.

Registration for families begins in mid October and ends in the first week of November.

Donors should contact St. Luke's Volunteer Program Manager by mid December to be matched with a family or senior.

Christmas Toy Store
Each holiday season, St. Luke's hosts a Marine Corps Toys for Tots toy store where West Nashville parents select toys and books (provided by Book 'em) for their children. Last year, this program helped provide gifts for 976 neighborhood children.

Registration for families begins in mid October and ends in the first week of November.

Volunteers are always needed to organize toys, to stock the Toy Store, and to help parents shop. Contact St. Luke's Volunteer Program Manager by mid November to sign up.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
St. Luke's serves as a free income tax preparation site for the IRS's VITA program. Trained volunteers prepare taxes at no cost to the taxpayer. The community benefits because the taxpayers' full refunds are returned to the neighborhood with no preparation or check advance fees removed.

In 2007, St. Luke's helped return over $318,000 to West Nashville residents!

Appointments are available from late January to April 15.
