Seasonal Programs

Adopt-A-Family
Adopt-A-Family is a program of giving in the Christmas spirit. Through the generous contributions of families, individuals, businesses, and congregations, St. Luke's matches donors with West Nashville families and seniors. The donors then shop for gifts from the wish lists the families and seniors provide. This program serves 350 families and 75 seniors each year.

Registration for families begins October 5th and ends October 30. Hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to noon and 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Donors can contact the Volunteer Manager starting October 19 to be matched with a family or senior. This will allow you adequate shopping time before the Dec. 11th target date to drop off your family’s or senior’s gifts at St. Luke’s.

Christmas Toy Store
Each holiday season, St. Luke's hosts a Marine Corps Toys for Tots toy store where West Nashville parents select toys and books (provided by Book 'em) for their children. Last year, this program helped provide gifts for more than 940 neighborhood children.

Registration for families begins October 5th and ends October 30. Hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to noon and 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Volunteers are always needed to organize toys, to stock the Toy Store, and to help parents shop. Contact St. Luke's Volunteer Manager by mid November to sign up.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
St. Luke's serves as a free income tax preparation site for the IRS's VITA program. Trained volunteers prepare taxes at no cost to the taxpayer. The community benefits because the taxpayers' full refunds are returned to the neighborhood with no preparation fees.

In 2009, St. Luke's helped return over $470,594 to West Nashville residents!

Appointments are available from late January to April 15.
